Of the hundreds of photos taken over the past few years, I keep returning to these two. For me they capture the essence of the work of Healing Waters International. The first photo shows the authentic bonds of friendship that exist in the poor communities. Children locked arm in arm with smiling faces, enjoying each other even though their feet are bare and their wardrobe is on their back. The second photo shows the daily drill of fetching water from a contaminated source in dirty buckets. This is one of several trips each day. What we do at HWI starts right here right now. Providing safe, clean, affordable water every day reduces and eliminates water-related disease for these children and their families. As they come to the church for their water, the opportunities for physical, social, and spiritual healing and transformation begin. Even though we have distributed over 75 million gallons to 115,000 people we have just begun to serve and to meet the need.

Nice photos! I watched Slum Dog Millionaire last night and it reminded me of our trip to the Dominican Republic slums. The work you are doing is so needed around the world! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteIt does always comes back to the kids and trying to give them a better, more healthy future. If we can minimize the effects of environment, educate and expose them to the church, the future is brighter.
